You get more benefits working with a virtual P.A. than working with a temp. Firstly, a virtual P.A. only charges for the work that is done. With a temp agency, there can be a minimum charge of up to four hours a day, even if the temp is required for only a short period of time. With a temp you're not always going to get the same person who knows how you or your business work. The temp might be good one time, and then you might get a not-so-great temp the next time. You have to repeatedly explain how you'd like things done every time the temp comes in.
With hiring permanent, or part time employees in this economic climate is just too expensive. As a rule of thumb, you have to budget 50 to 200 percent of an employee’s annual salary (depending on level) to recruit and train a new hire. There is advertising, bonus signing if applicable, relocation expenses if applicable, time for interviewing, travel expenses, pre-employment assessment, administration of employee induction, salary and benefit, set-up, lost management productivity due to involvement in a recruitment to name a few.
